Jameene Yvonne Banks was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was raised in Chicago, Illinois. She attended the University of Chicago where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with a primary concentration in Political Science and a secondary concentration in Environmental Studies in 2001. While Jameene always wanted to attend law school, upon completing her undergraduate studies she accepted a position working as a program coordinator for an adult literacy program at a college outside of Chicago. This program assisted adult learners with developing basic literacy skills that would enable them to improve their lives and those of their families.

In 2004 Jameene left Chicago and headed to Texas to begin law school. She attended the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston Texas where she focused her legal studies on Environmental and Administrative law. During law school, Jameene had the distinction of being selected as the only “2L” or second-year student to participate on the highly selective, three-member Environmental Moot Court team. Additionally, Jameene taught Property Law for a year as a teaching assistant during her second year. As a third year law student, Jameene spent two months in London, England studying the origins of our American legal system and compared the American judicial framework to that of the British.

Upon completing law school in May of 2007, Jameene took and passed the Texas Bar Examination in July and began a solo practice on November of 2007. Her practice primarily focused on criminal defense and family law matters. Jameene immediately became exposed to complicated criminal matters such as capital murder and a Driving While Intoxicated case involving Rohypnol or “Date Rape” poisoning, a case of first impression in the state of Texas. In her practice, Jameene also handled high profile matters in which she has represented police officers and parents against public school boards and districts.

In September of 2009, Jameene joined Denton, Navarro, Rocha & Bernal, P.C. where she handles Municipal Prosecutions, General Counsel and litigation for the Firm’s City Attorneys practice.
