Ms. Guerrero-Southard was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, receiving her Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in International Business. Immediately upon graduation, Ms. Guerrero-Southard moved to San Diego, California to attend California Western School of Law. She received her J.D. and was admitted to practice by the Texas Bar in November 2001.

Ms. Guerrero-Southard started her practice in Brownsville, Texas with the law firm Ransome & Ray, P.C. While with Ransome & Ray, her litigation experience involved complex banking and construction cases across Cameron and Hidalgo County. She practiced in state and federal court, including bankruptcy court. Ms. Guerrero-Southard also taught Civil Litigation and Wills, Trusts and Estates at the University of Texas at Brownsville. Additionally, she served on various committees and was a Board Member, Secretary, and Vice President of Cameron County Young Lawyer's Association.

In 2006, Ms. Guerrero-Southard moved to San Antonio and joined Denton, Navarro, Rocha & Bernal, P.C. Currently, her practice includes litigation involving employment issues, contract issues and tort issues for municipalities and quasi-governmental entities. She continues to enjoy community service and serves on several committees for the San Antonio Young Lawyers and the San Antonio Bar Associations.
